Imaginaries Of The Venezuelan Migrant From The Narratives Of A Border Community In Cúcuta, Colombia

This text addresses the phenomenon of migration of the Venezuelan population to Colombia from the narratives of inhabitants of the border area of the Corregimiento de la Parada, located in the city of Cúcuta. Through these narratives the researchers show the atavistic imaginaries about the Venezuelan migrant through fivecategories: "the borders", "friend/enemy", "good/bad", "scapegoat", "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth". An interpretative methodology is used, taking symbolic interactionism as a reference, insofar as it allows us to understand the process of creation and assignment of meanings by the residents of this area. The results show violence as a method to justify xenophobic attitudes against Venezuelan migrants.

Processes Of Educational Inclusion In Times Of Crisis

The pandemic marked society and, therefore, educational institutions, since preventive measures revealed large gaps and differences, and led to rethink the role of the school today, to rethink its constitution and redirect its actions towards a renewed entity, with new positions, new approaches and commitments, in order to respond to current needs and, even more so, to serve students with disabilities. This paper represents a research advance in which an analysis is made of the perspective, policies and strategies that the University of Guadalajara implements to guarantee inclusive education, and some of the effects generated in higher education students as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic; in particular, emphasis is placed on the effects that the situation has had on students with disabilities. For this research, some interviews were conducted with blind students from the same institution, in order to learn about their experiences during the health emergency.

Mathematical Modelling As A Tool To Understand Everyday Situations

This research reports the effects derived from the application of mathematical modelling in classroom work within the development of mathematics classes, which allowed the resignification of the concept of linear function, making use of various semiotic registers of representation applied to a wide range of everyday situations. The fieldwork was based on the application of a didactic sequence to two groups of ninth grade students from a public educational institution located in the capital city of northeastern Colombia. The students were expected to build a mathematical model that would fit the data provided framed in the situations in context in order to contribute to the re-signification of mathematical knowledge. The results show that the practice of modelling favours the motivation of students in relation to mathematical knowledge, giving it meaning and significance when confronted with real situations.

Formative Meaning Of Teaching Practice

The perception that four teachers and one hundred students have of their teaching practices with theoretical support was explored, which served as a basis for discussion, of the incidence of teacher training on the educational task, from a qualitative research, inductive method, descriptive-interpretative approach. To address subjective aspects about before, during and afterthe practice, a non-participant observation guide and a student questionnaire were used as instruments. The results allowed recovering the contributions in two constructs: the theoretical meaning and the formative meaning. Here we present the analysis of the formative meaning that contemplates the subcategories of New Forms of Pedagogical Relationship (NFRP) articulated to critical dialogicity and Collaborative Work (CT) and derived from it, the importance of enhancing the formative nature of research.

Education And Prevention: Strategies To Prevent Adolescent Suicide

Gatekeepers Training (GKT) is one of the most widely used and disseminated programs worldwide to train personnel in suicide prevention. The purpose of the program is to acquire the necessary skills and competencies to detect psychoemotional and mental health problems that could lead to self-destructive behaviors. In this research work, the level of risk related to suicide was evaluated by means of the ISO-30 psychometric test in high school students, then the effectiveness of a gatekeeper training program applied in the Tepatitlan Regional Preparatory School (TRPS) andsome of its modules was evaluated. The results of the ISO-30 psychometry showed that 64.5% of the students evaluated have a high-riskfactor for suicide related to the inability to cope with emotions. In addition to the above, a statistically significant difference was found (Mann-Whitney U Statistics = 4322.000; p0.001) in the level of competence of the participants in relation to a pre-training evaluation.It is important to note that the effect of the difference found is strong (Rosenthal’sr=0.67) so it is concluded that the GKT drastically improved the skills and competencies of the participants.

Liderazgo eficaz para la calidad educativa y la acreditación universitaria en el caribe colombiano

La investigación sobre liderazgo escolar en el contexto de la acreditación de la educación superior en el Caribe demanda del fortalecimiento del liderazgo pedagógico de los rectores de estas instituciones, para lo cual es importante el aporte de esta investigación que analiza las prácticas eficaces que han contribuido a la mejora de la calidad educativa, desde las percepciones de distintos actores, mediante un método de estudio de casos múltiples con enfoque cualitativo e interpretativo, que implicó la mirada a cuatro instituciones y un análisis en tres niveles de complejidad hasta llegar al cruce de casos. Los principales resultados indicaron que, las acciones y elementos relacionados con habilidades personales, competencias profesionales y formación pedagógica que poseen los directores, facilitan la configuración de prácticas de liderazgo eficaz. Paralelamente, son transversalizadas por el ser ético del líder en su condición humana, dándole al liderazgo un carácter moral con sentido social. Para potencializar en los líderes prácticas eficaces de liderazgo con el propósito de mejorar la calidad de la educación y la acreditación universitaria, es fundamental establecer políticas públicas contundentes que reivindique el rol actual de los rectores y garanticen su aplicabilidad desde lo institucional para poder lograr transformaciones de alto nivel.

IV international seminar on pedagogical practice (IV ISPP)

In the process of teaching and training students and new professionals, constructive actions and didactic spaces must be open where the teacher encourages the integral growth of their students, strengthening different technical/academic aspects and personal skills. With a good orientation and implementation of appropriate pedagogical practices, the teacher will have the ability to teach and create spaces to socialize, discuss and reflect about experiences that generate, not only the construction of new knowledge, but also the strengthening of principles and qualities in students, such as responsibility, honesty, equity, respect and the ability to reason to solve problems and conflicts. All this promotes the formation of human capital capable of confronting and solving different aspects and challenges that may be encountered in their training process and professional development. The present proceedings are part of the contributions of the participants in the IV International Seminar on Pedagogical Practice (IV ISPP) which was held from 26 to 27 August 2021, in the city of San José de Cúcuta, Colombia; congress was organized by the "Facultad de Educación, Artes y Humanidades" of the Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander, San José de Cúcuta, Colombia The main purpose of the IV ISPP was to create a space for training and academic and scientific cooperation for the construction, exchange, and development of research that aimed at the consolidation of innovation processes in education and pedagogical practices. This edition of the IV ISPP has emphasized the research, innovations, and reflections on didactics of natural sciences (mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology) and its applications at both educational and scientific. The IV ISPP was attended by researchers, teachers of the basic, middle, and higher education, graduate and undergraduate students from Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, El Salvador, and Spain, who shared their contributions in the fields of teaching and applications of natural sciences (physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics-mathematics, physical-chemistry, biophysics, Statistics, and education). On behalf of the organizing committee of the IV ISPP, we are extremely thankful to all authors and participants for providing their valuable contributions to this Proceedings volume as well as the reviewers for their constructive recommendations and criticism aiding to improve the presented articles. Attitudes towards physics. A study with high school students from the Colombian context

Science education should promote the development of competent students in science and develop their interest in science; however, although the role and relevance of science within society is evident; the interest towards it is not conscious, being the negative attitudes of the students the main problem in the teaching of physics, which translates into a deficient knowledge and lack of scientific vocation. This report aims to diagnose the attitudes of students in high school physics courses. The study was developed through a non-experimental, descriptive research design, obtained from the application of a Likert scale that evaluates attitudes towards physics, adapted and validated to the context of students in an educational institution in Colombia. The results indicate that the attitudes of the students are slightly favorable, which is an empirical precedent to continue with the studies on attitudes towards physic. This should be considered to enhance the learning processes in these students, especially for those who have their first approach to physical concepts and give importance to attitudes when teaching.

Active learning and knowledge in physics: a reading from classroom work

This research article shows the findings of a study that sought to demonstrate the results of a methodological intervention implemented in classes of an eleventh-grade course in the area of Physics, in a public school in the city of San José de Cúcuta, Colombia. The intervention consisted of applying some active learning strategies accompanied by methodological tools such as collaborative work in order to measure the impact of the intervention on the level of disciplinary knowledge of students with a pre-test and post-test. The results show a significant increase with a value of 0.49 at the end of the intervention, which suggests that the subjects participating in the study improved their level of conceptual appropriation in physics after the application of active learning strategies.

Teaching physics through the implementation of a didactic strategy for the integration of knowledge in secondary school students

The objective was to evaluate the implementation of the knowledge integration model in high school students studying physics in a public educational institution in the city of San José de Cúcuta, Colombia. A quasi-experimental model was applied. An intervention was implemented as a didactic strategy for the integration of knowledge based on the Pragmatic Pedagogical Principles, its operative criteria, and activities. Conceptual progress is reported by means of Hake's normalized factor or gain, which was modified to the rating scales, and the results of partial exams are considered, implementing a continuous and formative evaluation system. The results were compared between the experimental and control groups. It was found that the experimental group showed better academic achievement and performance than the control group. This suggests that the results generated a continuous learning progress thanks to the application of the operative judgments of the corresponding principles.

Training action for physics teachers: an application of problem-based learning

The teaching of problem-based learning is a didactic approach that requires a radical change in the role of the physics teacher because it is focused on learning, research, and reflection that students follow to reach a solution to a problem situation as a starting point for the acquisition and integration of knowledge in science. The results of a training action for physics teachers on the implementation, their perceptions, and perspectives on the feasibility of the problem-based Learning approach are presented. The study is quasi-experimental in nature with pre-test and post-test in the study variables. The results suggest that the teachers' perceptions are positive, which is why they consider that its implementation in teaching is viable, however, they need more elements that facilitate their execution in the classroom, such as understanding the theoretical foundations and their pedagogical use successful in the classroom. It is concluded that, for the physics teaching process, problem-based learning is an innovation because it allows the student to learn actively, in which inquiry is relevant for the development of skills and appropriation of knowledge, which in the framework of natural sciences leads to the reconstruction of the scientific method.

Gestión pública en una ciudad fronteriza colombiana: La mirada de sus habitantes

La gestión pública eficiente busca generar actuaciones transparentes que logren satisfacer necesidades básicas de los habitantes. El objetivo del artículo es identificar las percepciones de habitantes de la ciudad fronteriza de Cúcuta, en Colombia, sobre la gestión de sus gobernantes en aspectos relacionados con educación, empleo, salud, seguridad y vivienda. El componente metodológico estuvo determinado por el paradigma cuantitativo, con diseño descriptivo, no experimental, de corte transversal. Se aplicó un cuestionario de 16 ítems a 2.284 participantes de las diez comunas de la ciudad. Los resultados muestran que 63,5% de los encuestados manifestó que la ciudad ha empeorado en el último año, en contraste con 27,5% que considera que ha mejorado tras la aplicación de las políticas de gobierno, mientras que 9% no respondió. Se concluye, que la insatisfacción de la mayoría de los habitantes con la gestión del gobierno municipal se relaciona, principalmente, con el alto porcentaje del trabajo informal, la falta de oportunidades para empleo formal y los deficientes sistemas de salud y educación. Problemas que no surgieron con la pandemia, sino que se han configurado desde años anteriores, ante la poca ayuda que ha brindado el gobierno municipal para mitigar los problemas sociales de la región.

Gains in active learning of physics: a measurement applying the test of understanding graphs of kinematics

To teach the subject of physics in the classroom it is required that the teacher has and plans to carry a didactic strategy with him. Within this context is the methodology called Active physics learning, which is a strategy within the classroom and in the laboratory, as it allows the student to learn physics without depending on a textbook or the teacher who guides the course. The test of understanding graphs of kinematics assesses students' comprehension of kinematics. We report the application of an active learning experience for the conceptual learning of kinematics of students taking the subject of physics in an elementary and middle school. The study is quasi-experimental with a single group of 29 students using a pretest-interventionposttest design. With the results of the pretest and posttest the Hake learning gain index was estimated and showed evidence of the implementation of active learning in the conceptual evolution of students in kinematic concepts and their representation by means of graphs. This becomes a precedent for the improvement of pedagogical practice in favor of quality education.

Saber, manipulación y poder. La universidad como institución social

El texto es una reflexión sobre la universidad como institución social, realizada a partir de varios estudios desarrollados en cuyos hallazgos se evidencia, en primer lugar, el interés de algunas estancias por convertirla en un escenario de manipulación y control, reduciéndola a la racionalidad de los organismos funcionales, frente a la dinámica propia que la universidad instaura como institución social cuya base se moviliza desde las significaciones imaginarias sociales. En este proceso, sen muestra desde la lógica de la teoría de los imaginarios sociales, la forma como la universidad se configura e institucionaliza en una tensión constante, entre el saber y el control, entre la función y la institución y se dan las bases que la definen y posicionan como institución imaginaria social.

La ética en la formación del ingeniero de minas: representaciones sociales de actores educativos

El presente artículo muestra los resultados de una investigación cualitativa que buscó comprender las representaciones sociales de docentes y estudiantes sobre la ética en una institución de educación superior en Cúcuta, Colombia. Se utilizó el método hermenéutico, lo cual posibilitó comprender un tipo de conocimiento que se construye en el diálogo, la interacción, la intersubjetividad y la cotidianidad. La muestra fue intencional y la conformaron 25 estudiantes y 2 profesores. Los resultados del estudio evidencian que para los actores educativos la ética está relacionada con los valores de los sujetos, los cuales son aprendidos del entorno. Relacionan la ética con la sociedad y la definen como una ciencia que les da a las personas ciertos parámetros que deben seguir para cumplir con las buenas acciones dentro de la sociedad.

Maestros de la pasión por aprender... “cuchillas pero chéveres”

Este artículo presenta el desarrollo de la categoría "El tema de los otros y su influjo en la pasión por aprender: el papel del maestro", como parte del resultado de la tesis doctoral La pasión por aprender. El punto de vista de los estudiantes universitarios (2012). Los hallazgos dan cuenta del significado que un grupo de estudiantes le otorgan al maestro a la hora de provocar su pasión por aprender. El trabajo es de corte cualitativo, en la perspectiva de una metaepistemología propuesta por Irene Vasilachis (2009), en la cual se reconocen los significados que los estudiantes manifiestan de su pasión de aprender. Se emplean tres técnicas para recoger la información: la aplicación del cuestionario de procesos de estudio (Biggs, 1982) a 307 jóvenes de cuatro universidades, el desarrollo de seis grupos focales con 60 participantes, y finalmente, 25 entrevistas en profundidad. Se analiza la información con apoyo de la teoría fundamentada: codificación abierta, axial y selectiva (Strauss & Corbin, 2002). De acuerdo con los resultados obtenidos, los maestros que provocan la pasión de aprender se caracterizan por poseer unos valores personales especiales, crear entornos de aprendizaje motivantes, expresar vocación por lo que hacen, mantener relaciones interpersonales fluidas con sus estudiantes y generar altas expectativas de aprendizaje en sus clases.

Telenovela colombiana e imaginarios de nación

Este artículo realiza una aproximación a los imaginarios de nación que, desde la telenovela colombiana Allá te espero, construyen estudiantes universitarios de la ciudad de Cúcuta, Colombia; investigación que se fundamente en los postulados teóricos de Anderson (1993), Castoriadis (1983) y Martín-Barbero (2009). Metodológicamente se utilizó un enfoque cualitativo, de tipo interpretativo, fundamentado en la entrevista semiestructurada y grupos de discusión. Se concluye que la nación que pasa por la telenovela colombiana está relacionada con la ficción, con una realidad construida por los jóvenes, una realidad social que circunda un imaginario conquistado a base de unos relatos y unos olvidos.

PROGRAMAS DE EXTENSIÓN EN DOS UNIVERSIDADES PÚBLICAS EN NORTE DE SANTANDER: POLÍTICAS Y PRÁCTICAS EN EL MARCO DE LA RESPONSABILIDAD SOCIAL UNIVERSITARIA

Las funciones misionales de la universidad se concentran en tres focos que la caracterizan: la docencia, la investigación y la extensión social. Tradicionalmente esta ecuación centra su interés en la docencia, convirtiendo el “hacer universitario” en un ejercicio rutinario en el aula de clase, y en una preocupación central, a tal punto que gran parte de las reflexiones y políticas que originan las direcciones académicas privilegian esta función, en detrimento de las demás funciones. Por lo general, esto trae como consecuencia que la universidad se visibilice hacia los estamentos externos como una “fábrica de profesionales”, muchas veces de espaldas a los problemas que afectan el entorno de la institución. Esta investigación pretende poner en primer plano la denominada función de “extensión social”, que a juicio del proponente de esta investigación es una expresión que no recoge el verdadero sentido de lo que se pretende y que exige la sociedad de la academia: su papel fundamental en el análisis y transformación de los problemas sociales que aquejan el contexto escolar de las IES. Por lo tanto, no se hablará de “extensión social”, sino de RESPONSABILIDAD SOCIAL UNIVERSITARIA (en adelante RSU). La investigación indagará en cómo la RESPONSABILIDAD SOCIAL UNIVERSITARIA puede convertirse en el punto de partida para resignificar el rol que la sociedad y la política pública en materia de educación superior les exige a las universidades: ya no hablaríamos de DOCENCIA-INVESTIGACIÓN-EXTENSIÓN, sino que voltearíamos la “ecuación” de la siguiente manera: RSU-INVESTIGACIÓN-DOCENCIA. La metodología de investigación se orienta desde el paradigma cualitativo – comprensivo con el análisis de contenido como su principal apoyo para la recolección de la información. La investigación será un aporte significativo para el objetivo de la UFPS y la Universidad de Pamplona (institución con la cual se realizó esta alianza estratégica) para alcanzar la acreditación de alta calidad, mostrando cómo desde los problemas locales es posible la redefinición de la misión universitaria dejando como foco inspirador la RSU. Asuntos como la misión, la visión, el PEI, el modelo de autoevaluación, el modelo pedagógico dialógico crítico, constituirán antecedentes fundamentales para la recuperación de la naturaleza fundante de las universidades como centro de pensamiento, faro inspirador para la solución de problemas sociales, y perenne oteador de nuestra condición como universidades en contexto fronterizo e influyente en la región del Catatumbo.

Literacidad: nuevas posibilidades socioculturales y pedagógicas para la escuela

A partir de un enfoque sociocultural, la lectura y la escritura son repensadas desde el concepto de literacidad. Dichas prácticas letradas responden a las actitudes, valores y usos que se hacen de ellas en un contexto determinado. En este sentido, el artículo presenta una amplia revisión de la literatura más relevante sobre la lectura y la escritura desde el enfoque sociocultural, el cual exige una nueva mirada hacia ellas a partir de conceptos como cultura de lo escrito y el más reciente: literacidad. Las investigaciones presentadas en el texto abordan enfoques metodológicos cuantitativos y cualitativos comprendiendo el contexto internacional, nacional y regional. Se puede evidenciar entonces que desde el concepto de literacidad se abren posibilidades a la evolución de las formas de leer y escribir, buscando la reconfiguración de las acciones pedagógicas a través de la multimodalidad y criticidad en el desarrollo de la dimensión comunicativa.

Calidad de la docencia universitaria: comprensión de los discursos y políticas institucionales de una universidad pública en norte de Santander

El artículo muestra los resultados de una investigación cualitativa que pretendió comprender los discursos institucionales sobre docencia presentes en las políticas educativas en una universidad pública en Norte de Santander desde cinco categorías: competencias, métodos de enseñanza, evaluación, rol del docente y rol del estudiante. Las orientaciones metodológicas parten de análisis del discurso vertical cualitativo, lo cual permitió comprender los principales enunciados que hacen parte de los discursos de la categoría docencia con referencia en los documentos de rigor de la institución, así como en los documentos de los programas de Enfermería e Ingeniería de Sistemas de la Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander (Cúcuta) que hicieron parte de este trabajo. El estudio logra evidenciar discursos idealistas, donde las rutas teóricas y metodológicas de los documentos institucionales se encuentran construidas sobre la base de la transformación social de los escenarios locales, regionales y nacionales, y los nuevos enfoques de enseñanza – aprendizaje.
