La investigación presenta resultados con respecto a la implementación de actividades lúdicas para el desarrollo intelectual de niños en disciplinas como topología, geometría y estadística. Su Objetivo consistió en analizar la influencia del kit de material didáctico en un grupo de estudiantes de preescolar del Colegio Nuestra Señora de Fátima de la Ciudad de Cúcuta, Colombia. Siguió un diseño de estudio cuasi experimental explicativo. La población de estudio consistió en niños entre cinco (5) y seis (6) años de edad con residencia en Cúcuta, y la muestra estuvo constituida por 16 estudiantes. Resultados: El desempeño intelectual de niños en edad preescolar mejora y se hace significativo con el desarrollo de habilidades de comprensión y descripción de su entorno, especialmente a través de ejercicios de clasificación, comparación y seriación. Conclusión: La implementación del kit de actividades lúdicas constituye una estrategia metodológica que incide en el desarrollo intelectual de niños de cinco (5) a seis (6) años.

El estudio de los sistemas dinámicos es un tema de gran interés en las ciencias básicas, económicas, empresariales, entre otras, permite realizar inferencia directa del comportamiento de los diferentes sistemas. El objetivo del trabajo consiste en la aplicación de modelos estadísticos de series temporales a la estimación empírica de ecuaciones que conforman sistemas dinámicos con el propósito de describir las relaciones entre factores capaces de producir alteraciones en un sistema económico, físico, social o ambiental y plantear ecuaciones de evolución para ese sistema. La metodología se enmarca en el paradigma cuantitativo y utiliza un razonamiento deductivo que, a partir del análisis de datos univariados y multivariados, recolectados a intervalos regulares de tiempo, permite establecer un derrotero para ajustar modelos dinámicos confiables que expliquen el comportamiento de variables aleatorias a lo largo del tiempo. Las aplicaciones revisten importancia para las diferentes ciencias puesto que permiten identificar y estimar modelos que describan sistemas dinámicos en variables estocásticas relacionadas.

Renewable sources used to produce energy has gained momentum due to its environmental benefits and economic feasibility. Colombia has been part of the global tendency to develop non-conventional renewable technologies such as wind and solar and integrate those technologies into the energy matrix of the country. However, the lack of understanding of the wind and solar resources in some areas of the country including the department of Norte de Santander, Colombia, has limited the deployment of these technologies and the development of new projects. This research proposes an approach to assess wind and solar resources in the department of Norte de Santander, Colombia. Also, this paper discusses the physics behind the generation of energy from wind and solar sources and the contributions required from different backgrounds to help in the wide deployment of solar and wind energy. In this first stage, a rough technical concept is developed, and the proposed sites are selected based on publicly available maps of low resolution presenting average irradiance and wind speed, and proximity to electricity transmission infrastructure. The areas selected have a global horizontal irradiance ranging from 4.0 kWh/m2 to 5.0 kWh/m2 and wind speeds between 4.0 m/s and 6.0 m/s at 10.0 m height on average in a year.

This work is an investigative process in these areas of scientific and applied disciplines, in which the attention is focused on the hand as a valuable tool for the occupational performance of the human being, since through it is possible to touch, move, grasp, or manipulate objects. Injuries to this limb may be due to various causes, which require complex surgeries and long periods of rehabilitation to be reversed. This research highlights the importance of certain physical concepts that must be understood by the rehabilitation expert in order not to affect the surgery and thus guarantee the maximum functionality of the patient at the end of the recovery cycle.

El nivel de competencias de los docentes en relación con el uso de las tecnologías de información y comunicación ha despertado la inquietud de investigadores en los últimos años. Este trabajo tiene como objetivo describir el nivel de competencias de Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación (TICS) que presentan los docentes del programa de Terapia Ocupacional de la Universidad de Santander, campus Cúcuta desde la perspectiva de sus estudiantes. La metodología fue cuantitativa de enfoque descriptivo con la aplicación de un cuestionario a estudiantes activos adscritos al Programa Académico de Terapia Ocupacional de la Facultad de Salud de la Universidad de Santander en Colombia (UDES). Los resultados demuestran que según la opinión de la mayoría de los estudiantes los profesores exhiben altos niveles de competencias TIC. Se concluye que los altos niveles de competencias TIC en el personal constituyen una fortaleza de la institución, así como la necesidad de fomentar iniciativas de participación de estudiantes en la evaluación del desempeño de los docentes como parte de estrategias de gestión participativas.

En el presente estudio se propone evaluar la comprensión de la noción de función y la capacidad de articular distintos registros semióticos para su representación por parte de los estudiantes de nuevo ingreso en la carrera universitaria en Colombia. Se toma como contexto inmediato la Facultad de Ingeniería de una universidad pública. Epistemológicamente, el estudio se basa en el interaccionismo simbólico mediante el análisis de los significados que los estudiantes atribuyen a este concepto matemático cuando abordan la resolución de problemas. La metodología adoptada, en consecuencia, es cualitativa y se hace uso de la codificación teórica. Para el análisis de los resultados se ha aplicado la teoría fundamentada con un enfoque estructurado. La información que genera este estudio corresponde a una prueba en la que se mostró a los estudiantes dos representaciones gráficas con la intención de que identificaran cuál de ellas constituía una función, además de lo cual debían argumentar su respuesta. En total se analizan 86 argumentos alrededor del concepto. El análisis de datos se hizo a través del software Atlas.ti 7.0. El sistema de categorías emergente permite vislumbrar los siguientes hallazgos: deficiencias conceptuales, diversidad en aproximaciones conceptuales, referentes conceptuales, representaciones semióticas y, por último, destacan las distintas variaciones conceptuales.

A computational tool for learning electrostatic physics is presented through the development of a disruptive methodology. The tool allows the analysis of case studies based on Coulomb’s law, Gauss’s law, Poisson’s equation, and Laplace’s equation with boundary value. The tool was tested using reference exercises for each case study, making use of quantitative and qualitative comparative analysis between the traditional mathematical development and the computational tool. Errors were measured using Likert scale. The quantitative results showed errors of less than 1.8% in all the cases studied, concluding that the tool is effective. The qualitative results showed that the methodology allows a better development of the electrostatics learning process, dynamizing the study of complex topics such as electromagnetic physics theories through interactivity and technological resources, in addition to having a theoretical module developed using agile methodologies that provide dynamism and an intuitive environment to the interface.

The research identifies storytelling concepts in Physics from university professors. The research follows a qualitative approach applied to 250 participants from universities in the department Norte de Santander, Colombia. The design implements as an interview technique the Socratic dialogue and as a quantitative support used elements of the correlational design. Interview and virtual survey instruments had a kappa index equal to 0.8 and α = 0.78. The results identify three categories associated with the application of science, the function of the history of Physics and scientific production. It is concluded that participant's concept storytelling is the art of telling a story in motion and a didactic resource associated with approaches, the development of skills, useful to analyse the development of discoveries in Physics, its actors, its application in scientific advances and its contribution to innovation and community development. Classical mechanics, electricity and magnetism with storytelling, identifies in physical science axiological aspects associated with tradition; epistemological aspects associated with experimental physics; and critical aspects.

This research project describes the results of applying two pedagogical methodologies: problem-based learning and the use of new information technologies through GeoGebra in the development of the theme of functions for students of public accounting. The research was developed from a positivist paradigm, quantitative approach of quasi-experimental type of pretest and posttest with control and experimental group. In order to determine the development of competencies, a diagnostic test was initially applied to evaluate the mathematical knowledge with which the students enter; then pretest and posttest tests were applied to the control and experimental groups, in which by means of an intervention plan to the experimental group in the posttest stage, favorable results were evidenced by improving the proportion of correct answers and the development of competencies in geometric algebraic reasoning compared to the pretest stage. One of the conclusions reached in the research is that applying other methodologies in class such as problem-based learning with the support of GeoGebra software encourages the process of teaching learning and students find applicability to the topics treated by associating them with situations of practical life.

Several mathematical concepts have application in physics; this paper reports the results of a pedagogical investigation based on the methodology known as didactic engineering, which has been proposed with the aim of improving the skills exhibited by a group of eleventh grade students from a private institution in the interpretation of kinematic graphs. The concept of the slope of the straight line and how this mathematical concept can represent velocity or acceleration according to the variables considered in the kinematics graph provided was enhanced in the pedagogical intervention. This methodology offers a process of internal validation, after comparing the results obtained in a knowledge test at two different points in time (pre-test and post-test). The results allowed us to identify improvements in all students in terms of basic kinematics graph interpretation skills, and a group of students stood out by advancing in more complex reasoning and interpretation processes. These results contribute to the improvement of the pedagogical practices of Physics teachers at secondary and middle school levels, making them more competent when they enter higher education.

The development of numerical thinking in primary education is an important aspect of children’s mathematical training, since it allows for a general understanding of numbers and operations in order to facilitate the development of their handling and application. The work allows the implementation of a pedagogical strategy based on didactic engineering, which allows students to identify and formulate questions related to the management and understanding of numbers and their basic operations together with the decision to approach individually and which ones in a group way while planning and making decisions in their development and evaluation of results. The study is framed in the quantitative paradigm, in a quasi-experimental design, working with control and experimental groups. Pre-test is applied to identify the development of numerical thinking in students and as a support to the design of the intervention proposal. Once the proposal is developed, it is evaluated by means of a post-test that allows identifying significant improvements in the numerical thinking of the children of the experimental group in comparison with those of the control group. This leads to the conclusion that the developed intervention contributes favorably to the development of numerical thinking in children

This research reports the findings derived from the identification of the difficulties exhibited by a group of 76 students from different grades of basic secondary education in a private educational institution with an emphasis on science education. The students were given a questionnaire presenting five situations based on the Position-Time graph associated with uniform rectilinear motion of particles. The research approach is of a quantitative nature at a descriptive level with a field design, since it was the students who filled in the instrument. It is highlighted as a finding in the opinion of the students that the subject has been seen in class, but due to the teacher’s methodology it is not fully understood by them. The results show that the students have a long list of difficulties mainly due to the lack of articulation of mathematical concepts in physical contexts, a situation that prevents them from analyzing the proposed statements, reasoning about the approaches, and improving in the process of searching for alternative solutions with clear arguments.

From Physics we have worked with the Fourier transform to explain the dynamics of time series, a similar case occurs from statistics where dynamic models of time series are worked to explain the variations of the series and, in both cases, to make reliable forecasts. The main objective of this research is to adjust a model, using the methodology framed in the sequential update procedure of the forecast, to a time series of coal production observed quarterly during the years 2007 to 2011, in order to disaggregate quarterly the annual production for the years 2012 to 2018. Once the process has been carried out and validated, a quarterly production model is estimated which allows valid and reliable forecasts to be made for each quarter in subsequent years.

Gatekeepers Training (GKT) is one of the most widely used and disseminated programs worldwide to train personnel in suicide prevention. The purpose of the program is to acquire the necessary skills and competencies to detect psychoemotional and mental health problems that could lead to self-destructive behaviors. In this research work, the level of risk related to suicide was evaluated by means of the ISO-30 psychometric test in high school students, then the effectiveness of a gatekeeper training program applied in the Tepatitlan Regional Preparatory School (TRPS) andsome of its modules was evaluated. The results of the ISO-30 psychometry showed that 64.5% of the students evaluated have a high-riskfactor for suicide related to the inability to cope with emotions. In addition to the above, a statistically significant difference was found (Mann-Whitney U Statistics = 4322.000; p0.001) in the level of competence of the participants in relation to a pre-training evaluation.It is important to note that the effect of the difference found is strong (Rosenthal’sr=0.67) so it is concluded that the GKT drastically improved the skills and competencies of the participants.

Investigaciones recientes priorizan la búsqueda de estrategias que cierren la brecha existente entre la enseñanza y el aprendizaje, la cual se profundiza en una diversa comunidad estudiantil que acompaña sus procesos con el desconocimiento pedagógico de la planta docente, cuyas alternativas didácticas para lograr una formación competente están sustentadas en un pensamiento transmisionista – conductista. Este artículo presenta una alternativa pedagógica de aprendizaje basada en la teoría experiencial de Kolb, aplicada al concepto de onda armónica en la propagación de ondas electromagnéticas. La metodología comprende la formulación de la hipótesis de trabajo desde la teoría del aprendizaje experimental, la definición del contexto sustentado en el enfoque cuantitativo y basado en los estilos de aprendizaje de Kolb, la generación de la estrategia pedagógica siguiendo el modelo CUVIMA, la aplicación de esta en un solo grupo con pretest y postest para conocer las ideas previas y el cambio conceptual y, el análisis de resultados utilizando estadísticos gráficos y la media. Como resultado se identificó que los estudiantes tienen un estilo de aprendizaje Convergente – Asimilador según los estilos de aprendizaje de Kolb, lo cual implica que tienen preferencias hacia las prácticas de laboratorio y de simulación en donde pueden poner a prueba los conceptos teóricos aprendidos. De acuerdo con el análisis de los datos se concluye que la experimentación mejora la comprensión del fenómeno físico estudiado, lo cual está acorde con el estilo de aprendizaje identificado en los estudiante

El aprendizaje de la física supone arduos esfuerzos cuyos resultados con frecuencia se muestran en paradójica desproporción lo cual conlleva a generar estrategia para valorar el nivel de estrés entre los estudiantes puesto que esto a su vez, permite establecer acciones pedagógicas y didácticas para la enseñanza de la física y para potenciar el pensamiento físico Objetivo: establecer la validez y fiabilidad de una escala para evaluar el estrés en estudiantes de cursos de física de instituciones educativas de educación superior del municipio de Cúcuta en tiempos de covid-19. Materiales y Métodos: Estudio descriptivo de corte transversal, diseño instrumental; evidencia de validez de constructo se evaluó a través de análisis factorial confirmatorio, correlación y comparación; la consistencia interna se estimó mediante el coeficiente alfa de Cronbach. La muestra estuvo constituida por 1200 participantes seleccionados de la población de estudiantes de instituciones educativas públicas y privadas del municipio de Cúcuta, Colombia, de diferentes programas académicos que tienen matriculado cursos de física. Resultados: se conforma una escala con 20 ítems y 3 factores: ansiedad, presión institucional, afrontamiento y se evalúa su fiabilidad y validez para el diagnóstico de estrés en estudiantes de cursos de física. Conclusión: la escala para evaluar el estrés en estudiantes es válida y fiable.

Estimation of missing data in a geophysical series of precipitation

The analysis of dynamic systems is a topic of great interest in the basic sciences since it allows direct inference of the behavior of different systems. The study of physical phenomena provides large databases that, if recorded at regular time intervals, constitute time series. However, time series of geophysical data in many cases present missing data and their estimation requires the application of valid methods that allow estimating reliable information to complete the series since some analysis methods require these series to be complete. Two methods are used in this article to estimate the missing values of the precipitation series in the city of San José de Cúcuta, Colombia, the first one consists of considering the univariate data series and applying an adjustment of the sequential conditional expectation method of forecasting with restrictions, the second one refers to analyze the data series of a nearby station and through multivariate methods establish the cointegration between the series, and then use this as a basis for estimating the missing data in the analysis series. The two methods are recursive, a first estimation of the model is made ignoring the missing data, an initial estimation of the missing data is made, then a new estimation of the model parameters and a new estimation of the missing data is made, the algorithm continues running with the new values replacing the values estimated in the previous phase until the difference of the estimated values between successive iterations is less than a value fixed beforehand. Finally, a comparison is made between the estimates made by the two methods.
