The Rankine cycle is a thermodynamic cycle widely used in power plants, specifically in steam power plants, due to its great importance in the industry. It has also been studied in recent years in search of parameters that can optimize the cycle by reducing losses and thus increase efficiency, so that improvements have been made in the process such as overheating of steam at the turbine inlet, and even regeneration of water at the boiler inlet. In this work a process of optimization of a Rankine cycle was presented by complementing it with an open feed water heater which not only improves the efficiency of the cycle, but also provides a convenient means of de-aeration of the feed water to prevent corrosion in the boiler, in which it was carried out under the assumption of a stationary flow, and without significant changes in the kinetic and potential energy, that is, assuming an ideal process, all this with the aim of obtaining the highest thermal efficiency and the lowest exergetic losses in the cycle, carrying out several case studies with the assistance of Unisim with temperature variations at the turbine inlet and at the source to observe how this affects the exergetic efficiency and exergy destroyed in the turbine and it was concluded that this is reflected in the production of mechanical energy useful for creating electrical energy because a variation in these parameters could cause job losses in the turbine and decrease in the exergetic efficiency of the system which in turn would lead to a decrease in the network of the system.

Non-conservative mechanical models are developed to be applied to the low energy impact phenomenon. The analytical description of the proposed models is made and the numerical solution of the system of differential equations is proposed. The impact of materials is undoubtedly the object of research, due to the dynamic condition inherent in the bodies that interact in our universe. That is why we have standardized methodologies for its study, such as Izod and Charpy impact techniques, among others. However, this work places special emphasis on the method of plate bending, which, due to its geometric configuration, interprets real impact situations to which some bodies are subjected, in addition to the low energy technique in which the energy available in the impactor is less than that absorbed in the breaking process, makes it possible to obtain information on the material in the elastic, plastic, initiation and crack propagation range.

The research seeks to determine whether the stress concentration factor for flat plates with two stressed holes varies according to the application speed of the load. The research was developed using the experimental method, with two types of tests, one called low-speed load application and the other called high-speed load application. The behaviour of the theoretical stress concentration factor Kt has been studied on long flat plates with two holes under tension and made of isotropic material, with axial direction for the application of the vertical load. Different values were taken from the centre distance of the holes and it was found that the value of the stress concentrator Kt; for the two tests always tends to values greater than 3.8. A comparison was made between the results obtained and it was determined that there is variation between the values of the Kt factor according to the speed with which the load of the voltage test is applied, with the highest being the Kt with high speed test.

Se presentan a continuación los resultados de la investigación sobre la Administración por Valores como estrategia de mejoramiento del clima organizacional empresarial en organizaciones localizadas en la ciudad de Valledupar, cuyo objetivo general fue establecer un programa de Administración por Valores como estrategia de mejoramiento del clima organizacional empresarial para lo cual se identificó la situación actual del clima organizacional que presenta la empresa; se determinó los valores que harán parte del programa de Administración por Valores y diseñan estrategias para la implementación de un programa de Administración por Valores. Para lo anterior se desarrolló un diagnóstico de la situación actual del clima organizacional; se establecen las debilidades, fortalezas, amenazas y oportunidades para el diseño e implementación del programa de Administración por Valores. De acuerdo a lo anterior, Existe la necesidad de formar y crear estrategias de compensación, distintas a las económicas, dentro de las empresas, y que se convierten en elementos motivadores y potenciadores de buen clima organizacional; la implementación del programa Administración por valores, permite generar una mejor actitud de parte de todo el personal de las empresas, desde los administrativos, operarios y comerciales, hacia el trabajo y el relacionamiento entre ellos. Además, en las organizaciones se ha generado una cultura de liderazgo y trabajo en equipo mucho más dinámica y espontánea, permitiendo el empoderamiento y la pertenencia hacia la organización.

Nowadays, the companies with national leadership have decided to provide services that allow the industries to give solutions for manufacturing, repair, reconstruction, maintenance and supply to the necessary tools necessary for the operation of the machinery required in the development of projects. The objective of this work is based on the identification of the relationship and points of convergence between the ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 50001:2011, and OHSAS 18001:2007 standards, for the implementation of the IMS- HSE (Integrated Management System and Health, Safety and the Environment respectively), in companies in the metal-mechanical sector that develop their economic activity in Colombia. An analysis of the regulatory structure was conducted, identifying common and no n-common aspects to find a compliance baseline that provides business leaders with a decision-making tool for implementing Geographical Information System (GIS) and HSE aimed at continuous improvement. The re sult of this research offers a characterization regarding scope, planning, performance evaluation and development in legal terms, applied to the systems integrated into the service company in the metal-mechan ical sector. So that, the results can be used as an operational and organizational tool that provides them with a characterist ic of viability, competitiveness, and profitability compared to companies in the same dynamic scenario, guaranteeing compliance with the legal commitments of the Colombian regulatory framework.

In the present investigation, the effect of main parameters for the development of parts in production such as feed rate and depth were evaluated, obtaining the machining costs depending on the characteristics of the material. The machining process used was that of turning in pieces with carbon steels and cast iron as the base material, varying the feed rate in a range between 0.2mm/tooth and 0.8mm/tooth and the depth between 1mm and 4mm allowing important parameters to be determined such as cutting speed and machine operating conditions to obtain a good final finish without affecting the surface of the piece and in production time required to optimize costs.

Objectives: This research proposes the feasibility of working on surfaces obtained by honing with 2D roughness parameters, as the 3D roughness measurement commonly used in the industry requires many hours of measurement time. Methods/Statistical Analysis: In this article, we study the values of surface roughness in two dimensions and three dimensions measured inside cylinders, machined by honing in industrial honing machines. Hardness has been measured with a contact probe roughness meter, as this type of instrument is widely used in academic and especially industrial applications and is standardized in international standards such as ISO 3274 or ASME B46.1. Findings: It is concluded that due to the excellent association obtained, it is sufficient to work with adjustments in two dimensions to characterize the surface, since the roughness in three dimensions takes a long time to be measured with a contact roughness meter like the one used in this investigation, so 2D parameters can be used because due to their normal behavior, they offer competitive advantages due to their ease of determination and require shorter measurement times. This paper developed a methodology for estimating Abbott-Firestone curves from the roughness parameters of the material probability curves. The surface roughness profile obtained in plateau-honing processes is the superposition of the effects of the two processes used to generate it. At first, a honing is performed with which the characteristics of valleys are generated, honing base, and after this honing base, a finishing honing is performed, a plateau operation to reduce the peaks of the base honing profile without modifying the characteristics of the valleys of the base profile. In the functional behaviour of the surface, the valleys will contribute to the retention of oil and the flat areas will contribute to reducing friction with the oil retained in the valleys and to improving watertightness. To characterize this type of roughness obtained by the superposition of the roughness generated by two processes, material probability curves are suitable, in which the roughness of each process is characterized by the slope of a line, and the point of intersection of both lines corresponds to the transition zone between plateaus and valleys. The roughness parameters other than those of the probability curve do not adequately characterize the roughness obtained by processes such as plateauhoning, since they are calculated on the total height of the roughness profile and do not separate the effects of the processes that have been used to obtain it, which means that the contribution of each of the processes to the roughness profile cannot be differentiated.

Regenerative vibration is a major drawback in machining processes reducing the geometric accuracy and dynamic stability of the cutting system. Achieving a dynamically stable cutting operation represents a significant decrease in the production time and therefore in the costs associated with this process. The information provided by the stability lobe diagrams is of great importance, since from them we know the range of spindle rotation speeds and chip thicknesses at which the cutting operation takes place in a state free from the phenomenon of regenerative chatter, avoiding the rapid wear of the cutting tool and achieving quality surface finishes. In the present investigation, the behavior of the turning operations in steel 1020, steel 1035 and steel 1045 is characterized, with the objective of verifying the presence of instability in the machining caused by the regenerative chattering in the machine tools. Based on the analytical models proposed by Altintas and Budak for the stabilization of self-excited vibrations, a computer tool is developed capable of generating stability lobe diagrams, which allow us to appreciate the operating conditions in which machining presents stable behavior, to simulate the material removal process considering certain parameters specific to the machine tool.

The chattering in the machine tools is a phenomenon that causes instability in the machining process, surface finish with high roughness, also produces excessive and accelerated wear on the tool in the metal cutting processes, this phenomenon consists of self-excited vibrations which are produced and maintained due to the cutting forces, the purpose of this article is to analyze regenerative chatter and predict the optimal points of operation in the turning process for 1020 carbon steel by developing analytical methods for generating stability lobe diagrams. To achieve this objective, the methods proposed by Altinas and Budak to stabilize the self-excited vibrations in the turning process applied to the orthogonal cut were studied in detail. These methods are widely accepted within the community of researchers and specialists in the field, thanks to the excellent results obtained in practice. Once the models studied were compressed, a computational algorithm was developed with the help of the MATLAB® software that was able to generate stability lobe diagrams for the turning operation in order to find the optimal points of operation so that there was no chatter, thus improving the material removal rate and increasing productivity

In this paper, we study the different investigations on pollutant emissions in engines, focused on the mechanisms of formation of pollutants, the techniques to reduce these emissions and how they affect human health. With this, it will be possible to project the necessary improvements in this type of systems, to reduce the impact of these thermal machines on the environment.

Sustainability under research in green energy: A bibliometric study

The reduction of the amount of pollution and toxicity by the manufacture of products has been a topic widely investigated by many international organizations, looking for an answer that help humanity to minimize the environmental impact. The main objective of this paper is to study the literature of Green engineering from 2007 to 2017 using bibliometric techniques for obtaining an overview of the production behavior of publications in this topic. The information was discharged and analyzed using tools such as Web of Science (WOS) and HistCite to get important results of the international contribution developing significant advances in this area. According to the results obtained, USA has been the most important country researching in this subject, providing 36.8% of the total publications. From the 257 publications, 60.9% were journal articles, where the Abstracts of papers of the American Chemical Society was the most relevant journal with 14 papers. Between 2014 and 2017 an important increase in the published production was presented, being 2016 the year with the most papers published with 15.6% of total investigations. In recent years, green engineering has been consider in many process on industries as a key tool to help the control of the greenhouse emissions, reducing the environmental impact providing some steps to achieve goals proposed for 2050 according to the ISO 50001 standard.Introducción.

Burnishing is a machining process without chip removal that seeks to improve the surface roughness of a component by means of plastic deformation of the surface layers. Due to the process mechanics, during its execution, a compressive residual stress is introduced into the surface of the workpiece during its execution, which improves various physical-mechanical properties of the component. This process has been used industrially since the 1950s, mainly in pieces made of soft materials (hardnesses up to 45 HRC), in operations subsequent to processes such as turning. The development of tools with harder materials, has opened up the possibility of burnishing on harder materials (hardnesses up to 62 HRC). Burnishing of hard materials has opened up an alternative to traditional finishing processes such as grinding, its main comparative advantage is its low-cost operation, which reduces grinding costs by 8 to 15 times. The plastic deformation burnishing is a metal working process with material removal whose advantages are that it does not generate waste, which is a competitive advantage over other surface finishing processes such as grinding, where waste is generated which also needs to be collected and subsequently treated. The use of e.g. coolants is not necessary either, in recent years, attempts have been made to eliminate them from material working processes, because their presence not only causes a significant cost that impacts the manufacturing process, also represents an environmental problem due to its polluting effect, with the associated management costs involved. This article presents the results of an AISI 1045 test specimen experiment, to which a turning process has previously been carried out.

Chatter in the machine tools represents one of the biggest problems due to the instability in the machining process, breakage of the tool and accelerated wear of the tool and spindle or machine components in the metal cutting processes, such as turning, milling, boring, drilling, etc. Which translates into a poor-quality surface finish, this phenomenon consists of self-excited vibrations that are produced and maintained due to shear forces, the purpose of this article is to predict the optimal points of operation in the milling process for Ni-based Inconel and make a comparison with Ni-based Udimet 500 through observation supported by a graphical and analytical tool to generate stability lobe diagrams, a code was developed in the MATLAB® software capable of generating stability lobe diagrams for the milling operation that provides optimal operating points to avoid tool vibration, thus improving chip removal rates and increasing productivity.

In this article the results of the impact characterization of PETG and PA6 thermoplastics are presented, they have been characterized statically and dynamically by the indentation test, and mathematical models developed in previous works have also been used to adjust the obtained models. The thickness of the specimen used and the mass of the impactor used were studied. The results have shown that the specimen thickness influences the value of some of the measured properties as the thickness increases, as well as that the impactor mass influences the velocity that is printed during the test run.

En la presente investigación se llevó a cabo la ejecución del ensayo de hidrometría a cinco muestras de arcilla de diferentes tipos de una de las empresas dedicadas a la fabricación de bloques H-10 en la región nortesantandereana con los que se determinaron los porcentajes de arenas, limos y arcillas; los cuales fueron ubicados en el diagrama de Winkler para identificar los tipos de arcillas existentes según su textura y el tipo de producto que se puede fabricar para poder formular una mezcla experimental de material cerámico utilizando el software Statgraphics Centurion XV. Los resultados obtenidos demuestran que las arcillas utilizadas actualmente por la empresa se encuentran en los índices mínimos para la elaboración de bloques H-10 con granulometrías superiores a 2 milímetros de diámetro. Con esta investigación se espera poder pronosticar el comportamiento de las mezcla en las etapas del procesos producto con la condiciones tecnológicas de empresa, con lo que evidentemente se mejoraran los recursos ambientales y económicos de la empresa.

Thermoeconomic optimization with PSO algorithm of waste heat recovery systems based on organic Rankine cycle system for a natural gas engine

To contribute to the economic viability of waste heat recovery systems application based on the organic Rankine cycle (ORC) under real operation condition of natural gas engines, this article presents a thermoeconomic optimization results using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm of a simple ORC (SORC), regenerative ORC (RORC), and double-stage ORC (DORC) integrated to a GE Jenbacher engine type 6, which have not been reported in the literature. Thermoeconomic modeling was proposed for the studied configurations to integrate the exergetic analysis with economic considerations, allowing to reduce the thermoeconomic indicators that most influence the cash flow of the project. The greatest opportunities for improvement were obtained for the DORC, where the results for maximizing net power allowed the maximum value of 99.52 kW, with 85% and 80% efficiencies in the pump and turbine, respectively, while the pinch point temperatures of the evaporator and condenser must be 35 and 16 ◦C. This study serves as a guide for future research focused on the thermoeconomic performance optimization of an ORC integrated into a natural gas engine.
