En este estudio se analizaron los macerales y análisis próximos de los carbones de la formación Cuervos perteneciente a la mina La Lomita ubicada en la vereda de San Luís de Chucarima del Municipio de Chitagá (Norte de Santander), la cual está localizada en la cuenca del Catatumbo. Inicialmente, se analizaron las muestras para determinar su poder calorífico, contenido de humedad, cenizas, carbono fijo, azufre y propiedades coquizables. Dando como resultado una muy buena calidad del carbón principalmente por los bajos contenidos de azufre (0.59% en base seca según la normal ASTM D4239-14), con índice de hinchamiento libre de 5.0 secado al aire según la norma ASTM-720M15, lo que le da un fuerte carácter aglomerante haciéndolo un carbón coquizable. Además, a partir del análisis petrográfico, inicialmente se realizó un resumen de las nomenclaturas y características visuales de todos los macerales y después fue posible analizar las muestras obtenidas en el sector. En el cuál, se observó un predominio de la vitrinita haciendo este un carbón vítrico altamente compuesto por kerógeno tipo III presente en cuatro mantos de aproximadamente 30cm de espesor en la zona de estudio.

This work extrapolates the application of coda-waves’ imaging, in order to determine lateral anomalies of attenuation for surficial targets, and providing experimental elements that justify its use in an economic way with a relatively good resolution. A numerical procedure for the spatial inversion of the attenuation, inside a small region, has been established. The numerical effectiveness of the inversion was evaluated carrying out a field experiment, which detects, based on attenuation contrasts, the presence of a tunnel built in the Colombian Eastern Cordillera. The experimental work allows the validation of the proposed method, and the acquisition of associated information about the geotechnical conditions at the experimental site.

This article presents the development of some case studies on shell and tube heat exchangers using a graphical interface developed in MATLAB®. Through the case studies, the variation in the performance of the equipment was determined by means of the heat transfer coefficient in function of some parameters such as mass flow and tube arrangements, establishing initial conditions for each run that were established in the software. Likewise, the article shows in detail the methodology with which the study was developed, the fundamental equations used to calculate these results and the graphs obtained. Through this study, it was verified that the variables studied had such an influence on the parameters evaluated, with the objective of establishing selection and operation criteria when designing a shell and tube heat exchanger.

The research has been dedicated to the study of the calculation of the stresses and design conditions given by the safety factor of operation of the structural members of the mines that use wood as their main support material. Wood is a lightweight material, easily transportable and easily handled in ademe systems [1]. For this case, the structural member that is analyzed is the union between the column and the beam of the mine doors, known as the German door. For the development of the study, the geometry of standard doors commonly found in coal mining has been taken into account. The reason for the research on the proposed topic stems from the need to have a secure control over the structural sustainability of the mines, since the use and possible deterioration of the wood under operating conditions and in the mining environment is very important for human safety.

El presente artículo muestra los resultados de una investigación cualitativa que buscó comprender las representaciones sociales de docentes y estudiantes sobre la ética en una institución de educación superior en Cúcuta, Colombia. Se utilizó el método hermenéutico, lo cual posibilitó comprender un tipo de conocimiento que se construye en el diálogo, la interacción, la intersubjetividad y la cotidianidad. La muestra fue intencional y la conformaron 25 estudiantes y 2 profesores. Los resultados del estudio evidencian que para los actores educativos la ética está relacionada con los valores de los sujetos, los cuales son aprendidos del entorno. Relacionan la ética con la sociedad y la definen como una ciencia que les da a las personas ciertos parámetros que deben seguir para cumplir con las buenas acciones dentro de la sociedad.

the research uses mixed, participatory action research tools within qualitative research, and factor analysis from the positivist approach; identifies and analyses factors associated with problem solving in capacity development within the framework of the metacognitive in learning of the physic, associate to approach with operations of numerical systems and detection error with Hamming code, is apply in the childhood of public educational institutions located in the border area of the Municipality of Villa del Rosario, Colombia. For this purpose, a diagnostic test was applied (α = 0.78), which allowed the identification of difficulties and variables related to learning and application in real contexts (r = 0.81); and a post-test (K = 0.7), that evaluates projects as a didactic strategy. There was evidence of the construction of knowledge and the application of these to practical life, also revealed that it was possible to awaken interest and motivation in students which significantly improved their level of analysis, interpretation and reasoning. Associated factors were coexistence (α = 0.788), emotional proposal didactics (α = 0.751), metacognitive skills (α = 0.767), self-control (α = 0.718), evaluation (α = 0.712), strategies and abilities in physic through the method and its application in logical circuits with indicators cognitive, attitudinal, motor processes.

El Rábano (Raphanus sativus) es una especie de gran importancia por sus propiedades nutricionales, el alto porcentaje de aceite en sus semillas y la gran cantidad de metabolitos aprovechables. La producción de este cultivo se ve influenciada por factores como la utilización de semillas de alta o baja calidad. Es por esto que, en este estudio, se evaluó la aplicación del test de tetrazolio como método para determinar la viabilidad en semillas de Raphanus sativus. Inicialmente, se recolectaron semillas producidas en Villa del Rosario, Norte de Santander, Colombia, las cuales fueron expuestas a dos concentraciones (0,5 % y 1,0 %) y dos tiempos de exposición (24 y 48 horas). Posteriormente, fueron observadas en el estereoscopio para determinar el porcentaje de viabilidad, contabilizando las semillas que presentaron intensa coloración roja en su embrión; se obtuvieron un 99 % y 97 % de semillas viables con los tratamientos T2 (0,5 %, 24 h) y T4 (0,5 %, 48 h) respectivamente, no existiendo diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre sí (p ≤ 0,05: Tukey HSD). En comparación con la prueba de germinación, en la que se obtuvo un promedio de 99 %, no presentaron diferencias estadísticamente significativas los tratamientos T2, T3 y T4. Se concluyó con esto que la prueba de viabilidad con tetrazolio es efectiva a concentraciones de 0,5 % y 1,0 %, durante tiempos de exposición de 24 y 48 horas.

La investigación tiene como propósito validar el modelo de quíntuple hélice identificando ejes estratégicos como factores que influyen la formación de los estudiantes de la universidad Francisco de Paula Santander-Cúcuta-Colombia, de acuerdo a su perfil, percepciones y necesidades; para este estudio se realizó una encuesta en la población total de estudiantes matriculados en I-2020, así como egresados, empresarios externos. La metodología estudio descriptivo, de análisis de contenido. Resultado: En el marco de la emergencia sanitaria generada por el Covid surgen tres categorías emergentes considerados como ejes estratégicos: generación de cadena de valor, saber y generación de conocimiento; Identidad y Universidad circular para la comunidad, moderna e inteligente; con subejes Universidad con gestión de calidad en la formación, universidad con gestiòn investigadora, productiva e innovadora, universidad sustentable, resiliente con equidad y hábitat de calidad, universidad multicultural con gestiòn para la convivencia, protección del ser humano, la paz, el deporte y bienestar; con gestiòn en redes, disruptiva, competitiva e internacional; categorías fenomenológicas presentes son equidad, sostenibilidad, global, integrada e inclusiva.

This study presents detailed thermodynamic modeling of a supercritical Brayton cycle operating with carbon dioxide as a working fluid for electric power generation. The study incorporates a main compression intercooling configuration while elucidating the effect of operational parameters on the overall performance based on energy and exergy perspectives. The model was carefully validated with relevant authors. Moreover, two different optimization methodologies, namely particle swarm optimization and fmincom, are evaluated based on convergence criteria. The results demonstrated that the fmincom reduced the iteration time between 140 s - 180 s. The cycle pressure played a central role in the stability of the thermophysical properties of the working fluid. The energy and exergy efficiencies present a direct relation with the inlet temperature. The air cooling and regenerators represent the biggest contributor to exergy destruction, whereas the compressors featured minimal impact on the exergy degeneration. Overall, the proposed configuration demonstrated robust performance to implement with high-grade heat sources, especially in non-interconnected areas.

Designing cams by Bézier Curves has become increasingly common, since the mathematical development of this method is less complex. Bezier curves are Bernstein-based polynomials under a unitary domain, and in that sense, this article presents the design of a cam using Bezier curves of degrees 5, 7 and 9. And beyond, this article seeks to show the variation of the effective effort of Von Mises in a cam-follower mechanism composed of a disc cam and a roller follower with translation movement and force closure. The expressions that allow determining the variation of Von Mises' effort for each of the curves used are presented. This variation is presented by means of graphs in which it is observed that as the degree of the curve increases, the magnitude of the efforts is greater, and this increases the probability of failure in the mechanisms. In addition, it was found that there is an inverse relationship between the stress and the radius of the primary circle of the cam.
