Prevención, intervención y manifestaciones de violencia en contextos escolares: Percepciones de estudiantes en centros educativos de Cúcuta (Colombia)

Abstract

Este artículo da cuenta de las percepciones de los estudiantes sobre las manifestaciones de la violencia en contextos escolares y sobre las acciones que se emprenden en las instituciones educativas para su prevención y control. El enfoque del trabajo se orientó desde el paradigma cuantitativo–descriptivo y se realizó en instituciones públicas de educación básica y media en la ciudad de Cúcuta, Norte de Santander. Se trabajó con muestreo aleatorio simple por conglomerados y se constituyó la muestra con 3557 estudiantes de las diez comunas que conforman esta ciudad. Entre los principales resultados se destaca la comprensión de las formas de violencia verbal y psicológica que se hallan presentes en los centros educativos, las percepciones varían según el género o el estrato social. Sin embargo, las agresiones mediante golpes, constituyen la forma más frecuente de violencia física, aunque se encuentran en todos los estratos sociales, predominan entre los varones. El estudio devela que si bien es cierto no pueden erradicarse por completo los episodios de violencia en las diferentes instituciones, las acciones a tiempo pueden contrarrestar los hechos de agresiones actuales y en la misma medida prevenir futuras situaciones de maltrato.

This article gives an account of the perceptions of the students about the manifestations of violence in school contexts and about the actions that are undertaken in the educational institutions for their prevention and control. The focus of the work was oriented from the quantitative-descriptive paradigm and was carried out in public institutions of basic and secondary education in the city of Cúcuta, Norte de Santander. We worked with simple random sampling by conglomerates and the sample was formed with 3557 students from the ten communes that make up this city. Among the main results is the understanding of the forms of verbal and psychological violence that are present in schools, the perceptions vary according to gender or social stratum. However, assault by blows, which is the most frequent form of physical violence, although found in all social strata, predominates among males. The study has revealed, finally, that although it is true that the episodes of violence in the different institutions cannot be completely eradicated, timely actions can counteract the acts of current aggressions and to the same extent prevent future situations of abuse.
