Geometric thinking is a process in which competences are developed to understand three-dimensional space. The experience arises from the need to implement teaching methodologies that allow to optimize both the potential of teachable that has the geometry as the potential of learnability of the student with the purpose of deepening in the learnings so that, by means of the construction of models and the mathematical principle of reconstruction and invention of mathematics, emphasizing spatial thinking and leading the student to recognize geometric objects, geometric spaces and associated transformations to develop mathematical skills while strengthening their geometric thinking.

The analysis of dynamic systems is a topic of great interest in the basic sciences since it allows direct inference of the behavior of different systems. The study of physical phenomena provides large databases that, if recorded at regular time intervals, constitute time series. However, time series of geophysical data in many cases present missing data and their estimation requires the application of valid methods that allow estimating reliable information to complete the series since some analysis methods require these series to be complete. Two methods are used in this article to estimate the missing values of the precipitation series in the city of San José de Cúcuta, Colombia, the first one consists of considering the univariate data series and applying an adjustment of the sequential conditional expectation method of forecasting with restrictions, the second one refers to analyze the data series of a nearby station and through multivariate methods establish the cointegration between the series, and then use this as a basis for estimating the missing data in the analysis series. The two methods are recursive, a first estimation of the model is made ignoring the missing data, an initial estimation of the missing data is made, then a new estimation of the model parameters and a new estimation of the missing data is made, the algorithm continues running with the new values replacing the values estimated in the previous phase until the difference of the estimated values between successive iterations is less than a value fixed beforehand. Finally, a comparison is made between the estimates made by the two methods.

A time series, also called a time series or chronological series, consists of a set of data, coming from realizations of a random variable that are observed successively in time. Its analysis involves the use of statistical methods to adjust models to explain their behavior and make reliable forecasts. In this article integrated autoregressive models of moving average are adjusted to the studied series, complemented with specific methods of fractal geometry as support for the detection of the existence of random cycles in the series. The present investigation implies the realization of simulations, in a first phase and, later, the analysis of temporal series of economic and social variables of the country and the region.

La investigación tiene como objetivo identificar las percepciones sobre ciencia y museología en estudiantes universitarios, así mismo describe características sociales y culturales de los estudiantes universitarios de la Frontera Colombo-venezolana en función de sus características sociales y culturales. La metodología se enmarca dentro del paradigma cuantitativo a través de encuestas semiestructuradas, mapas perceptuales y análisis multivariado. La muestra la constituyen estudiantes universitarios que visitan por primera vez el Centro Interactivo de Ciencia y Tecnología de la Frontera. Los resultados aportan elementos fundamentales para cimentar el desarrollo de programas que estimulen la creatividad y la capacidad innovadora en sus estudiantes.

El objetivo de investigación fue evaluar la relación entre el rendimiento académico en matemáticas y el éxito escolar en estudiantes de educación superior. La investigación siguió un enfoque cuantitativo, descriptivo-comparativo y microsociológico. Los datos provinieron de fuentes primarias. La recolección de datos fue transeccional y la muestra fue de 1500 estudiantes. Se utilizó la escala de resiliencia de Wagnild y Young. Los resultados muestran que hay una relación importante entre el nivel de exigencia, la aplicación de las matemáticas, la abstracción y el rendimiento académico. Los estudiantes desarrollan habilidades emocionales de resiliencia que les permiten mejorar su calidad de vida. En conclusión, la resiliencia se relaciona significativamente con todas las fortalezas del carácter, así como con la aceptación positiva del cambio y con la competencia personal. Se identificó que, si bien la resiliencia ayuda a los estudiantes a ser más tolerantes y a comprender mejor lo que sucede en el entorno, es precisamente en esos desafíos donde se manifiestan las fortalezas que les brindan un alto desempeño educativo. Los estudiantes exitosos demuestran habilidades de pensamiento formal, pensamiento creativo, aplicación de la matemática y resiliencia, las cuales inciden en su calidad de vida

Problem-based learning constitutes a good alternative to study the concept of waves since it sequentially leads the student to structure the knowledge to use it in the context, to develop effective processes of reasoning, to develop self-directed learning skills and to motivate him/her to learn, together with the development of the capacity to work in a team and it favors the development of the mathematical physical thought. The research is developed from the multi-method methodological approach developing in-depth interviews to teachers and knowledge tests to students with the purpose of establishing both pre-knowledge and initial situations for structuring the pedagogical intervention and the evaluation of its results. The pedagogical intervention is structured on a quasi-experimental design in which the strategy of problem-based learning is applied to the teaching and learning of physics and is compared with the traditional methodology. The research allows us to conclude that applying the problem-based learning methodology to physics teaching, we obtain better educational yields than with traditional teaching, while it generates a greater motivation and a greater interest in learning. It also allows the student to integrate the knowledge into his or her context, visualize the usefulness of learning and apply knowledge to the solution of problems in his or her environment, in other words, it allows the student to achieve significant learning and therefore a development of mathematical physical thinking.
