Realizar adaptación cultural de la Escala de Medición Competencia Cultural en trabajadores de la salud (EMCC-14), para el contexto colombiano. Método: validación cultural y de contenido por juicio de expertos, incluido análisis de concordancia y fiabilidad. Resultados principales: el índice global de Kappa de 0.151, implicó un bajo acuerdo entre codificadores y un concepto de leve fiabilidad. Se exploraron las categorías: congruencia, análisis semántico de contenido, redacción de los ítems, claridad y precisión, y pertinencia cultural; la concordancia osciló entre pobre y aceptable, el análisis semántico presentó mayor afectación. Realizados los ajustes, el nivel de confiabilidad para la escala y por dimensiones, obtuvo un alfa de Cronbach 0.738, interpretándose como un nivel de confiabilidad aceptable. Conclusión principal: La versión del EMCC-14 adaptada culturalmente al contexto colombiano obtuvo un adecuado nivel de comprensibilidad y confiabilidad, permitiendo su aplicación para determinar el nivel de competencia cultural en trabajadores de salud.

The production of vaccines of biological origin presents a tremendous challenge for researchers. In this context, animal cell cultures are an excellent alternative for the isolation and production of biologicals against several viruses, since they have an affinity with viruses and a great capacity for their replicability. Different variables have been studied to know the system’s ideal parameters, allowing it to obtain profitable and competitive products. Consequently, this work focuses its efforts on evaluating an alternative for producing an anti-influenza biological from MDCK cells using SuperPro Designer v8.0 software. The process uses the DMEN culture medium supplemented with nutrients as raw material for cell development; the MDCK cells were obtained from a potential scale-up with a final working volume of 500 L, four days of residence time, inoculum volume of 10%, and continuous working mode with up to a total of 7400 h/Yr of work. The scheme has the necessary equipment for the vaccine’s production, infection, and manufacture with yields of up to 416,698 units/h. In addition, it was estimated to be economically viable to produce recombinant vaccines with competitive prices of up to 0.31 USD/unit.

Genetic variability studies on species with a pharmacological potential are essential for conserving genetic resources. A genetic characterization of a species can guide efforts to collect and conserve germplasm for future breeding programs. The Croton genus belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family, which has approximately 1,300 species, is widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of the world, and has a wide range of ethnobotanical and medicinal uses. The aim of this research was to study genetic variability by analyzing sequences of the internal transcribed space region (ITS1 5'-TCCGTAGGGAACCTGCGGC-3' and ITS4 5'-TCCTCCGCTTATGC-3') of ribosomal DNA (rDNA) of a Croton population from forested areas in the Department of Norte de Santander in the municipalities of Chinacota, Pamplona and El Zulia. The results indicated considerable genetic variability in the Croton population, with a nucleotide similarity ranging from 54 to 99% and phylogenetical grouping according to the place of origin. The information gained from the ITS region can be a useful parameter for diversity evaluations and phylogenetic studies since there are no similar studies on Croton in this department in northeastern Colombia.

This research reports the findings derived from the identification of the difficulties exhibited by a group of 76 students from different grades of basic secondary education in a private educational institution with an emphasis on science education. The students were given a questionnaire presenting five situations based on the Position-Time graph associated with uniform rectilinear motion of particles. The research approach is of a quantitative nature at a descriptive level with a field design, since it was the students who filled in the instrument. It is highlighted as a finding in the opinion of the students that the subject has been seen in class, but due to the teacher’s methodology it is not fully understood by them. The results show that the students have a long list of difficulties mainly due to the lack of articulation of mathematical concepts in physical contexts, a situation that prevents them from analyzing the proposed statements, reasoning about the approaches, and improving in the process of searching for alternative solutions with clear arguments.

The teaching of physics should be supported by practical or laboratory activities that seek to develop the scientific competencies of the students who study physics, so it is necessary to propose innovative strategies, such as research-based learning, in which students answer research questions through the analysis of data, which increases the interaction between the student and the physical concepts under investigation. Therefore, the objective of the study was to analyze the beliefs of teachers in natural science training at a public university in Colombia who take the subject of physics on research-based learning, to provide information on how to guide the use of innovative strategies. The study responds to a type of quantitative research with a descriptive approach and was based on a field design. On the other hand, the results reflect slightly positive beliefs of students in initial teacher training who study physics about researchbased learning as an innovative strategy, although it is recommended to expand the sample to generalize. Finally, the analysis reveals as a conclusion that the implementation of innovative methodologies such as inquiry-based learning for science teaching, especially physics, should be promoted and supported more effectively to foster motivation, skills development, and conceptual understanding. of the scientific contents.

The Force Concepts Inventory is a test to determine the level of conceptual knowledge of students about mechanical physics and to evaluate the effectiveness of different teaching strategies on the conceptual component of learning. The test is applied with the purpose of knowing the level of conceptualization of the students of a Physics subject course. The results of the pre-test made it possible to find out the level of conceptualization that the students possessed and provided information for the development of workshops based on real physical situations that required the elaboration of force diagrams. The results of the post-test allowed estimating Hake's learning and showed evidence about the conceptual evolution of the students and information to develop future teaching activities on Newton's laws.

This work is an investigative process in these areas of scientific and applied disciplines, in which the attention is focused on the hand as a valuable tool for the occupational performance of the human being, since through it is possible to touch, move, grasp, or manipulate objects. Injuries to this limb may be due to various causes, which require complex surgeries and long periods of rehabilitation to be reversed. This research highlights the importance of certain physical concepts that must be understood by the rehabilitation expert in order not to affect the surgery and thus guarantee the maximum functionality of the patient at the end of the recovery cycle.

Residue from coal combustion for plastic soil improvement

The combustion of coal in Hoffman-type furnaces generates ash as one of the process residues. This research seeks to make use of this residue to improve plastic subgrade soils in tertiary roads, considering that in Colombia a large percentage of these are not paved. A soil with high plasticity has been selected to make mixtures with ash dosages that vary from 0% to 15% with respect to the dry weight of the soil. To determine the variation of the physical and mechanical properties of the soil-ash mixtures tests of consistency limits, compaction tests, and California bearing ratio were carried out. The results showed that the mixture in which 12% of the coal combustion residue is added to the soil, as a percentage for the dry weight of the soil, has a better physical behavior and bearing capacity than the soil in its natural state. obtaining an increase of up to 75% in the California bearing ratio.

El virus Zika se transmite por la picadura de mosquitos infectados, pero también puede ocurrir a través de una infección intrauterina antes del parto, y el virus pasa al feto. Objetivo: describir el nivel de afectación en destrezas de ejecución y edad madurativa de niños del programa Valientes del Futuro con la infección neonatal por virus Zika. Materiales y Métodos: La investigación se enmarca con enfoque cuantitativo de tipo correlacional apoyada con una investigación de campo y diseño no experimental, con una muestra de 15 infantes de 3, 4 y 5 años. La técnica de recolección utilizada fue la Escala Abreviada. Resultados: En cuanto a las áreas evaluadas con respecto a la edad madurativa se encontró que la ponderación de la destreza motora y praxis halló un coeficiente de correlación de 0,601 (moderada) y en la muestra de las destrezas de ejecución de los niños de 3 años con zika gestacional se obtuvo una correlación de 0,853 (fuerte). Discusión: la infección por virus zika en niños y niñas, adquirida durante la gestación, limita fuertemente las destrezas de ejecución propias de la edad madurativa en esta población. Conclusiones: Existe correlación entre los infantes con zika gestacional y la afectación fuerte en las acciones o comportamientos que un paciente tenga para moverse e interactuar físicamente con actividades, objetos y por ende realizar una actividad motora aprendida.

Estimation of the Block Adjustment Error in UAV Photogrammetric Flights in Flat Areas

UAV-DAP (unmanned aerial vehicle-digital aerial photogrammetry) has become one of the most widely used geomatics techniques in the last decade due to its low cost and capacity to generate high-density point clouds, thus demonstrating its great potential for delivering highprecision products with a spatial resolution of centimetres. The questions is, how should it be applied to obtain the best results? This research explores different flat scenarios to analyse the accuracy of this type of survey based on photogrammetric SfM (structure from motion) technology, flight planning with ground control points (GCPs), and the combination of forward and cross strips, up to the point of processing. The RMSE (root mean square error) is analysed for each scenario to verify the quality of the results. An equation is adjusted to estimate the a priori accuracy of the photogrammetric survey with digital sensors, identifying the best option for µxyz (weight coefficients depending on the layout of both the GCP and the image network) for the four scenarios studied. The UAV flights were made in Lorca (Murcia, Spain). The study area has an extension of 80 ha, which was divided into four blocks. The GCPs and checkpoints (ChPs) were measured using dual-frequency GNSS (global navigation satellite system), with a tripod and centring system on the mark at the indicated point. The photographs were post-processed using the Agisoft Metashape Professional software (64 bits). The flights were made with two multirotor UAVs, a Phantom 3 Professional and an Inspire 2, with a Zenmuse X5S camera. We verify the influence by including additional forward and/or cross strips combined with four GCPs in the corners, plus one additional GCP in the centre, in order to obtain better photogrammetric adjustments based on the preliminary flight planning.

El nivel de competencias de los docentes en relación con el uso de las tecnologías de información y comunicación ha despertado la inquietud de investigadores en los últimos años. Este trabajo tiene como objetivo describir el nivel de competencias de Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación (TICS) que presentan los docentes del programa de Terapia Ocupacional de la Universidad de Santander, campus Cúcuta desde la perspectiva de sus estudiantes. La metodología fue cuantitativa de enfoque descriptivo con la aplicación de un cuestionario a estudiantes activos adscritos al Programa Académico de Terapia Ocupacional de la Facultad de Salud de la Universidad de Santander en Colombia (UDES). Los resultados demuestran que según la opinión de la mayoría de los estudiantes los profesores exhiben altos niveles de competencias TIC. Se concluye que los altos niveles de competencias TIC en el personal constituyen una fortaleza de la institución, así como la necesidad de fomentar iniciativas de participación de estudiantes en la evaluación del desempeño de los docentes como parte de estrategias de gestión participativas.

Bibliometrics has proven to be an efficient method for quantitative research on the statistical behavior of academic production, which allows analyzing existing data and documents to resolve trends in specific research fields. Considering the database downloaded from Web of Science, with the help of Hitscite and VOSviewer data analysis tool and Microsoft Excel table, 7,259 publications related to solar energy research from 2010 to 2020 were obtained. The purpose of this research work is to apply bibliometric analysis methods to the development of scientific research on solar energy, as an important part of renewable energies, to evaluate its progress in the last decades and to describe these trends. The results showed that since 2015, research on solar energy has increased, especially in countries such as the United States and China, due to the Paris treaties where the goal is that the average temperature of the earth by the year 2100 does not exceed 1.5 °C. Since greenhouse gases are the cause of the greatest impact of the increase in global temperature, it is expected that researchers will focus on harnessing green energy and take a step further to reduce fossil fuels.

Spectacled bears (SB) (Tremarctos ornatus) are the only bear species native to South America. This particular bear is the single species of its genus, and it is listed as vulnerable according to the IUCN red list. A critical SB conservation habitat is in the rural territories of the Peruvian Amazon, where anthropogenic land-use changes and landscape fragmentation threaten SB habitats. The following questions arise in this context: How much has land-use changed? How to design the establishment of ecological corridors (ECs) to support the conservation of SB?. We investigated the temporal land use and land cover changes for last 30 years (1990–2020) for a better projection of the ECs and to quantify the temporal landscape metrics. Furthermore, we integrated cloud computing, machine learning models with cost-effective techniques to delineate the ECs for SB within the rural territories. Ensemble Random Forest model associated with Google Earth Engine (GEE) was used to develop four land use and land cover (LULC) maps (for the years 1990, 2000, 2010 and 2020). The least cost path (LCP) model based on Dijkstra’s shortest path algorithm was assembled based on six variables (altitude; slope; distance to roads; distance to population centers; land use map; inventory map of SB). Then, we calculated the ECs based on the multidirectional origin-destination points, we found that forest patches increased by 57%

Hybrid solar thermal power plants using the Brayton cycle are currently of great interest as they have proven to be technically feasible. This study evaluates mechanisms to reduce fuel consumption and increase the power generated, improving plant efficiency. An energy and exergy model for the hybrid solar plant is developed using an estimation model for the solar resource to determine the plant operation under specific environmental conditions. The effect of using different working fluids in the Brayton cycle, such as air, and helium in transcritical conditions and carbon dioxide in subcritical and supercritical conditions, is evaluated. Additionally, the plant’s exergy destruction and exergy efficiency are evaluated. In those, it can be highlighted that the helium cycle in the same operating conditions compared to other working fluids can increase the power by 160%, increasing fuel consumption by more than 390%.

Tropical high andean ecosystems, known as paramos, are unique because they are highly diverse, have a high number of endemic species, and play an essential role in different ecosystem services, but are especially susceptible to climate change. Most of the giant rosettes, a dominant growth-form in the paramos, depend on unique features like stems protected by marcescent leaves, voluminous stem pith, and leaf pubescence. However, Ruilopezia atropurpurea lacks these characteristics and must respond differently to endure the paramo extreme conditions. Additionally, unlike other rosettes, this species is found under contrasting exposed and understory microenvironments so that intraspecific plasticity is also expected. We evaluated the responses of R. atropurpurea in terms of leaf water relations, gas exchange, and morphological characteristics in temporal (seasonal and daily variations) and spatial (microsite differences) scales in a Venezuelan paramo. R. atropurpurea displayed lower leaf water potentials (minimum leaf water potentials of -1.5 MPa and -1.8 MPa at the turgor loss point), higher leaf conductance (620 mmol m-2s-1), transpiration (5 molm-2s-1), and CO2 assimilation (13 mmol m-2s-1) rates compared to other paramo giant rosettes. A reduction in leaf area and specific leaf area occurred from understory to exposed sites. R. atropurpurea diverges from the typical responses of most paramo giant rosettes to the extreme environmental conditions. This species’ morphological and physiological plasticity permits it inhabit under variable microclimatic conditions, but despite its confirmed plasticity, it is not able to reach higher elevations as other giant rosettes successfully have.

This study evaluates the role of different LED lights (white, blue/red), intensity (µmol m−2 s −1 ), and photoperiod in the production of biomass and phycocyanin-C, allophycocyanin and phycoerythrin (C-PC, APC, and PE respectively) from a novel thermotolerant strain of Oscillatoria sp. Results show that a mixture of white with blue/red LEDs can effectively double the biomass concentration up to 1.3 g/L, while the concentration of the selected phycobiliproteins increased proportionally to biomass. Results also indicate that high light intensities (>120 µmol m−2 s −1 ) can diminish the final concentration of C-PC, APC, and PE, significantly reducing the overall biomass produced. Finally, the photoperiod analysis showed that longer light exposure times (18:6 h) improved both biomass and phycobiliproteins concentration. These results demonstrate that the application of LEDs to produce a novel strain of Oscillatoria sp can double the biomass concentration, and the photoperiod regulation can eventually enhance the final concentration of specific phycobiliproteins such as APC and PE.

La práctica contable y financiera de las empresas se dirige a un proceso de estandarización global. Hoy muchos países se encuentran en el tránsito de adopción e implementación de las Normas Internacionales de Información financiera. En el presente estudio se analizan los factores que han incidido en la aplicación de las Normas Internacionales de Información Financiera dentro del sector manufacturero de la ciudad de Cúcuta. Se desarrollo una investigación cuantitativa de tipo no experimental-transversal y nivel descriptivo enmarcada en el paradigma empírico analítico. Se utilizó como instrumento de recolección de información un cuestionario validado dividido en tres secciones y siete variables. Participaron en el estudio empresas 164 manufactureras de cinco subsectores seleccionados. Los resultados muestran que la mayoría de las Pequeñas y medianas empresas participantes dentro del estudio no han adoptado las Normas Internacionales de Información Financiera, a pesar de su conocimiento sobre la obligatoriedad, sus beneficios y las sanciones a imponer por parte del Estado. Igualmente, se evidencian múltiples obstáculos que van desde la falta de recursos hasta temores sobre el impacto de las Normas Internacionales de Información Financiera en lo económico. Se concluye que la aplicación de las Normas Internacionales de Información Financiera en el sector manufacturero de la ciudad de Cúcuta aún encuentra diferentes barreras y limitaciones.

Hydrogen is one of the main alternative fuels with the greatest potential to replace fossil fuels due to its renewable and environmentally friendly nature. Due to this, the present investigation aims to evaluate the combustion characteristics, performance parameters, emissions, and variations in the characteristics of the lubricating oil. The investigation was conducted in a spark-ignition engine fueled by gasoline and hydrogen gas. Four engine load conditions (25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%) and three hydrogen gas mass concentration conditions (3%, 6%, and 9%) were defined for the study. The investigation results allowed to demonstrate that the injection of hydrogen gas in the gasoline engine causes an increase of 3.2% and 4.0% in the maximum values of combustion pressure and heat release rates. Additionally, hydrogen causes a 2.9% increase in engine BTE. Hydrogen’s more efficient combustion process allowed for reducing CO, HC, and smoke opacity emissions. However, hydrogen gas causes an additional increase of 14.5% and 30.4% in reducing the kinematic viscosity and the total base number of the lubricating oil. In addition, there was evidence of an increase in the concentration of wear debris, such as Fe and Cu, which implies higher rates of wear in the engine’s internal components.

Percepciones sobre el aprendizaje social y la operatividad de un entorno virtual: un análisis en estudiantes de una Facultad de Educación

Esta investigación se centra en la percepción de los estudiantes sobre la influencia de una plataforma digital en la interacción y aprendizaje social en un contexto educación híbrido en una universidad pública de Colombia. Se adopta un enfoque cuantitativo y descriptivo, mediate un estudio de campo con 131 estudiantes inscritos en una Facultad de Educación. Se utiliza un cuestionario basado en encuestas. Los resultados revelan que el 95.6% de los estudiantes accede a redes sociales, pero solo el 79.60% las emplea con fines académicos. Se evidencia que más del 50% aprecia el apoyo docente, aunque indicaron la necesidad de mejorar aspectos como la retroalimentación y el tiempo de respuesta. En cuanto a las metodologías didácticas, el 51.90% y 39.20% de los estudiantes consideran adecuados los enfoques basados en proyectos y en problemas, respectivamente. En conclusión, se destaca el papel transformador de la plataforma educativa en la experiencia educativa, promoviendo un aprendizaje colaborativo y social.

Autonomous Cycles of Data Analysis Tasks for the Automation of the Production Chain of MSMEs for the Agroindustrial Sector

In this paper, we propose autonomous cycles of data analysis tasks for the automation of the production chains aimed to improve the productivity of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the context of agroindustry. In the autonomous cycles of data analysis tasks, each task interacts with the others and has different functions, in order to reach the goal of the cycle. In this article, we identify three industrial-automation processes within the production chain, in which autonomous cycles can be applied. The first cycle is responsible to identify the type of input to be transformed—such as quantity, quality, time, and cost—based on information from the organization and its context. The second cycle selects the technological level used in the raw-material transformation, characterizing the platform of plant processing. The last cycle identifies the level of specialization of the generated product, such as the quality and value of the product. Finally, we apply the first autonomous cycle to define the type of input to be transformed in a coffee factory.
